Policies

Admission

The Crawley nursery accepts all children aged 2-5 years old including children in nappies (nappies to be supplied). We also keep an up to date register / records on each child’s personal details.

The Horne nursery has the facilities to cater for toddleres / children aged 12 months to 5 years. Including children in nappies (nappies to be supplied). We also keep an up to date register / records on each child’s personal details.

A free 2 hour session is available to help new children get used to the nursery and will help with the separation from the carer. A child can bring a favourite toy from home for comfort whilst they are settling in. A longer settling in period is available when necessary (at the proprietors discretion). No personal toys are allowed within the nursery other than during the settling in period.

Health And Safety

The nursery school has inspections from Ofsted, Environmental Health and the Fire Brigade. Fire drills are practiced regularly with the evacuation to two nearby safe houses. A copy of the fire drill procedure is given to all new parents.

A child will not be allowed at either nursery with childhood diseases until any exclusion period is completed. Especially with a sickness bug, no child will be permitted until 48 hours after vomiting and diarrhoea has stopped.
All nursery staff are First Aid trained, the certificates are displayed in the relevant nursery.

We regret that absences are to be paid for. In case of hospitalisation we will try and arrange a reduction.

Discipline

Boundaries are important for the well being of all the children within the nursery, consistency is essential between the carers and the nursery staff.
Unacceptable behaviour may result in the withdrawing of the child from an activity or not allowing him/her a turn, this can be to turn the child’s attention to another activity and allow staff to explain to the child why this behaviour is not acceptable.

Carers will be informed about any significant action taken by the nursery with regard to their child.

Special Needs

All Children benefit greatly if children with special needs are included in the nursery. The other children learn to be caring and understanding. Depending upon the extent of the individual child’s needs, it may be necessary to employ an extra helper in order to provide the attention required. We will work with any registered special needs therapists to help the child’s progress.

Equal Opportunity

We undertake to ensure that all children will be regarded with equal consideration and respect as individuals, regardless of gender, colour, race, religion, class or special educational needs.
